THE COLOUR BLUE EXHIBITION Aug - Sept. 2024
Laneway Gallery, Naarm
Through the lens of a poem, a collection of images, and a short film, blueness shape shifts. In all its glory it spans across the sky and forms the foundation of rock faces. It elicits emotions and combines with reds and yellows to make soft earthy browns.
Blue acts as a co-author throughout the exhibition, drawing attention to themes of land sovereignty, the animacy of rocks and the way in which nature does not pay heed to borderlines.
MANGROVE MURAL
Woli Creek, Eora, 2024
12m x 2m
Designed by Ruby Laxton
I was a painting and research assistant for this mural, based on the local river and estuary. Through decades of restoration initiatives, the water quality is improving and a range of native flora and fauna are returning to this dynamic ecosystem.
The mural features the darter bird, mullet fish, mangrove branches and roots, the mud crab, the long-finned eel and more.
LOCAL MURAL
Ascot Vale, Naarm, 2024
4m x 3m
This mural was a commission piece I designed for a neighbour. The river was drawn from satellite imagery to follow the shape of the Maribyrnong. The peaches represent the fruit orchard that existed before the area was developed. The Willie wagtails are a favourite bird amongst locals here.

The shapes and colours here compliment the existing flooring and playground facilities. The jungle mural was designed to encourages play and curiosity.
SOLANA DE GRANADA MURAL

This mural is informed by a range of rock studies and shadow observations at various times of day. Solana means the sunny side of a mountain or valley.

FOUR RESCUE CHICKENS MURAL
Public garage door, Lewisham, 2021
2.8m x 2.6m
Supported by local residents
Funded by LSOM
I conducted two focus groups with the household and their neighbours, to gage what design they wanted for the garage.
I spent time with the rescue chickens who live behind this garage door to convey their ‘personas’. They often eat nasturtium flowers and sit near the apple tree.
I chose the orange background to match their door colour and it’s art deco sun stain glass window.
